Selma was born in Bosnian town of Bihac in 1991. She graduated from the Fine Arts Academy in Banja Luka, department of Painting in 2014. Currently an MAF student at Syracuse University, Selma is also a TA. Her art is rooted in her twin Roma and Bosnian identities, amended by her experience of being a woman and a migrant. Selma has extensively participated in exhibitions, performances, lectures and residencies throughout Europe and the US. Recipient of several awards such as Zvono, an award for the best young artist in BiH, she also holds a Commendation of the Cultural Center for outstanding achievements in art, awards for the best painting, graphic design, intermedial work from the Academy of Arts in BiH.
